Sales of the United States Mint's numismatic items mostly slumped following an up week. Silver products led while gold mostly fizzled. Just a few handful of offerings managed to exceed their prior week's sales.
The US Mint best seller was the 2011 Silver Proof Set. Collectors took in 19,640. In the last round, the sets surged by 25,940. The 2011 Proof Set was next, with 13,829.
Clad Mount Hood Quarter products and a few First Spouse Gold Coins fell back down after rebounding in the prior round. The cumulative total for the quarter's 100-coin bags and Two-Roll Sets receded by -22,695 compared to advancing 22,913 previously. The half ounce 24 karat coins' combined sales were reduced by -350 after jumping 968.
In the commemorative coin arena, US Mint Medal of Honor Commemorative Coins led with its proof silver dollar accounting for 4,848 of the 7,878 in sales. US Army Commemorative Coins followed with 3,025. The favorite was also the silver proof version, which gained 1,342.
As for American Silver Eagles, their US Mint sales total jumped another 697,500, which was up from 652,500 in the previous week. Their March total is sitting at 2,767,000 and their year-to-date number moved beyond the 12 million marker. It came to 12,429,000.
An updated figure for the new 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set was not provided. The total number sold remained static at 53,944.
