US Mint Coin Sales ReportDemand improved slightly for numismatic products but declined for bullion coins, the latest United States Mint sales data reveals.

March bullion American Silver Eagle sales have stalled since hitting 1.175 million last Tuesday -- a seven-day freeze. In contrast, the weekly numbers moved up 750,000 in the last report and jumped 1.25 million prior to that.

Bullion American Gold Eagle coins fared better, but not by much. Sales were up 8,500 during the last seven days. However, on the flip side, they had a 6,500 increase last Wednesday so they have only gained 2,000 since then.

Gold and silver prices surged on Tuesday. Should the rally extend, the bullion coin figures should be much better next week.

On the numismatic side of the landscape, last week's report showed that only three US Mint collector coin products enjoyed week-over-week gains. There were more than a dozen this round. Annual proof sets performed better as a group. Of the five sets sold, only the 2009 US Mint Proof set declined, with a weekly increase of 1,965 compared to the prior 2,864.

Disabled American Veteran Silver Dollars have reached 153,936. Split across the two available options, collectors have snapped up 107,316 of the proofs and 46,620 of the uncirculated. 2010 Boy Scout Silver coins go on sale Tuesday, March 23, which means the DAV coins will have competition soon.

The following table lists the latest US Mint sales stats. The first three columns provide weekly increases between the listed time periods, offering a sense of recent trends. The final column provides the latest totals as of Sunday, March 14, 2010.
