2011 Proof Set
Collector demand rose for many of the annual coin sets in the latest round of United States Mint sales figures. The hottest item was easily the 2011 Proof Set, which contains 14 proof-quality coins representing this year's circulation coinage. Buyers ordered 21,752 of them during the past week. Since its debut on January 11, a weighty 916,466 Proof Sets have sold.
Not far behind was the 2011 Proof Silver Eagle, which rose another 17,701 in this round. Demand tapered off for the third and fourth best sellers, the 2011 Silver Proof Set and the 2011 Mint Set. They climbed 6,766 and 6,140 respectively. The 2011 Uncirculated Silver Eagle rounded out the top five, as it jumped by 4,767 in sales.
In other mint news, the sold-out Grand Canyon Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin, whose orders exceeded 27,000 in September, declined again. Now its sales total is down to 26,019. The Mary Lincoln Proof First Spouse Gold Coin is no longer available from the US Mint, and sales of bags and rolls of Mount Hood Quarters will end next Tuesday, November 15.
On the bullion front, only three moved. The American Silver Eagle moved ahead by 541,000 in the last six days, while the one ounce American Gold Eagle advanced by 4,500. In the slow lane was the 24-karat American Gold Buffalo, whose tally only added on 1,000.

The final column provides the latest United States Mint sales totals as of Monday, November 7, 2011.
