There would be little to look at if the America the Beautiful Quarters™ Products and the American Silver Eagles were pulled from the latest United States Mint sales report. There was not a lot of buying "action" elsewhere, by contrast.
The new quarters products actually retreated in weekly performance -- along with nearly every other U.S. Mint offering. But their numbers are among the most active and likely will remain so until Mint scheduled releases of other issues occur this month -- namely, the 2010 Mint Set on July 15 and the 2010 Proof Set on July 22.
(Although the Yosemite America the Beautiful Quarters bags and rolls for release on July 22 will again help the quarter-dollar series, as will the 5 oz silver bullion quarters which are expected to begin their rollout later this summer.)
In getting to a few sales highlights, the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set was issued on May 13, 2010. Their weekly numbers climbed 5,103 with total sales at 156,212. The 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set set rose by 3,585 and are at 410,851 since their release on May 27.
These two quarters sets had the biggest unit weekly gains of the Mint's numismatic products, with the exception of the 2010 Pierce Presidential $1 Coin Covers which were just launched on July 1 and debuted at 16,688.
As mentioned in the opening, bullion American Silver Eagle coins continue to command attention. Last week's report had the silver coins topping the 18.1 million barrier for the year. They have since jumped another 875,500 and are just over 19 million for the year. Last year's record sales of 28,766,500 is still nearly 10 million away, but six more months are left in the year to attain that goal. If numbers hold relatively stable, it should be easy to surpass with only an average of 1,766,333 per remaining month needed.
Finally, 2010 American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollars rallied during the prior reporting period by jumping 4,258, which was more than double the weekly gain seen in recent weeks. The latest figures are back to the older levels, and even a bit lower. The proofs advanced 910 and the uncirculated 281, for a combined weekly pick up of 1,191. Totals sales are at 251,999 or 61.7% of their maximum 350,000.
The first three columns below provide weekly U.S. Mint coin sales increases between the listed time periods, offering a sense of recent trends. The final column provides the latest sales totals as of Sunday, July 4, 2010. (NLA = No Longer Available.)
