Lincoln Professional Life CentThe public and the media are invited to the presentation by the United States Mint of the third one-cent coin-honoring Abraham Lincoln's professional life in Illinois-at 10 a.m. Central Time (CT) Thursday, August 13, on the grounds of the Old State Capitol in Springfield.

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill), Illinois state officials and Mayor Tim Davlin will join United States Mint Director Ed Moy at the event.

Following the ceremony, the public can exchange their currency-while supplies last-for a minimum of two rolls and up to six rolls of coins bearing the new Lincoln Professional Life One-Cent Coin design.  (Limits are subject to change.)

Those who cannot attend the event can purchase a Lincoln "Professional Life" Two-Roll Set directly from United States Mint's Web site, www.usmint.gov, or the toll-free number 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468), beginning noon ET on August 13.  The Two-Roll Set, priced at $8.95 per set, will be available for a limited time only.  A shipping and handling fee of $4.95 per order will be added to all domestic orders.  Orders will be limited to five sets per household.

Children 18 years and younger will receive a new Lincoln Professional Life One-Cent Coin to commemorate the event.

The United States Mint, as mandated by Title III of Public Law 109-145 (the Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005) will issue a series of four pennies to honor the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth and the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln cent.  The obverse (heads side) of the four redesigned one-cent coins will continue to bear Victor David Brenner's likeness of President Lincoln that has graced the coin since 1909.  The reverse (tails side) will reflect four different aspects, or themes, of President Lincoln's life:  his birth and early childhood in Kentucky; his formative years in Indiana; his professional life in Illinois; and his presidency in Washington, D.C.

The final redesigned penny in the 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial One-Cent Program will be released November.
