The official launch of the American Samoa commemorative quarter-dollar will kick off September 3, at 10 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time (GMT-11), in Pago Pago.
United States Mint Deputy Director Andy Brunhart and American Samoa Governor Togiola T.A. Tulafono will preside over the event, which includes an exchange of currency for the new American Samoa quarter.
Everyone under 18 years of age will receive a new quarter. The free event is open to the public and the media.
The reverse design of the American Samoa quarter depicts the ava bowl, whisk and staff in the foreground with a coconut tree on the shore in the background. The inscriptions include AMERICAN SAMOA and SAMOA MUAMUA LE ATUA (Samoa, God is First), the motto of American Samoa.

On the evening before the American Samoa quarter launch, Deputy Director Brunhart will host a Coin Collectors Coin Forum where the public can express their ideas for future coinage. Information about the location is to be determined.
