Available Thursday, March 7, 2013 is the newest coin collecting product from the United States Mint, the 2013 Presidential $1 Coin Uncirculated Set™.
On sale for $16.95, the set includes eight uncirculated dollars featuring former Presidents William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft and Woodrow Wilson. These were the 25th through 28th Presidents of the United States.
Four of the 2013 Presidential $1 Coins are produced at the U.S. Mint facility in Denver and the other four are from the U.S. Mint facility in Philadelphia. Respective ‘D’ and ‘P’ mint marks are inscribed on the edges of the coins, as well as the year ’2013′ and ‘E Pluribus Unum’.
Uncirculated coins are of a quality produced for coin collectors.
"United States Mint uncirculated coins are struck on special presses using greater force than circulating coins, producing a sharp, intricately detailed image, and feature a brilliant finish," the U.S. Mint website describes.
The eight Presidential dollars are presented in a folder that includes biographical sketches and portraits of each President. The collector dollars are encased in a protective, rotatable blister that allows easy viewing of the coins and their edges.
Obverse or heads side of the Presidential $1 Coins depict the President’s portrait, and inscriptions of their name, their order as commander and chief, their years of service, and the motto ‘In God We Trust’.
Designing the obverse of the William McKinley dollar was Phebe Hemphill. Joseph Menna created the obverse of the Theodore Roosevelt dollar. Barbara Fox designed the obverse of the William Howard Taft Presidential dollar and Don Everhart designed the obverse of the Woodrow Wilson dollar.
Don Everhart also designed the reverse or tails side of the dollars, which shows a rendition of the Statue of Liberty with inscriptions of ‘United States of America’ and the denomination of ‘$1′.
