Fresh on the U.S. Mint sales charts are three new Presidential $1 coin products, the Presidential $1 Coin Uncirculated Set, and bags filled with either Philadelphia or Denver minted Chester Arthur $1 Coins. The leader in US Mint weekly sales across all numismatic products, hands down, was the uncirculated set.

Collectors ordered 20,996 of the new Presidential $1 Coin Uncirculated Set between its release on Tuesday, May 1 and Monday, May 7. What makes the set desirable are the two strikes of each coin, one from Philadelphia and the other from Denver, for a total of eight. Another factor helping sales is the lower price of $16.95, a discount of $3 compared to last year’s issue.
Chester Arthur $1 Coins in 100-coin bags did not make it in the top ten sales or anywhere close. Buyers scooped up 267 of the bags from Philadelphia and 222 of the bags from Denver, for a total of 489 between April 30 and May 7. When those sales are combined with the rolls and boxes of Arthur dollars since April 5, the U.S. Mint has sold 7,088,500 Arthur $1 coins.
In second and third place for highest sales were the 2012 Proof Silver Eagle and the 2012 Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set. The Eagles added another 13,888 to their total, which is now 356,786 after starting on April 12. The Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set gained 6,858 during its first full week on the market and is now at 152,955 since its release on April 24.
In bullion sales, only three products moved since last week. They were the Silver Eagles, which added 435,000 and is now resting at 12,094,000 in 2012, the one ounce Gold Eagles that increased by 21,500 and is at 212,500 for the year, and finally the 24 karat Gold Buffalo, which rose by only 1,000. The new total for Buffalo coins is 56,500.
All available sales on U.S. Mint numismatic coin products are below. The first three columns of the table provide weekly United States Mint sales increases between the listed time periods, offering a sense of recent trends. The final column provides the latest United States Mint sales totals as of Monday, May 7, 2012.
Bullion coin tables are found toward the bottom, with the most recent sales as of Thursday, May 10, except for the five ounce bullion coins.
