The Exalted 1802 Half Dime - NumisMaster

Government records indicate the Mint struck 3,060 silver half dimes in 1802. But the Mint director’s annual report covered the fiscal year that ended June 30, 1802. Most of the dimes listed as struck in fiscal 1802 were probably dated 1801.

Numismatists estimate that only 25-50 1802 half dimes have survived. Most of them show evidence of extensive circulation. No mint-state examples have come to light.
