The variety is typical of the obverse doubled dies that have been seen on many dates and types of the state quarter series with centralized doubling restricted to Washington's earlobe...

Uncirculated Guam QuarterWASHINGTON - The United States Mint will begin accepting orders for the Guam Official First Day Coin Cover on July 28, 2009, at noon Eastern Time (ET).  Production is limited to 25,000 units.

Priced at $14.95 each, the Guam Official First Day Coin Cover features two Guam commemorative quarter-dollar coins, one each bearing the mint mark from the United States Mint facilities at Philadelphia and Denver.

The quarters are mounted on a handsome display card in an envelope with a 44-cent United States Flag postage stamp.  The postmark of MAY 26, 2009, HAGATNA, GU marks the day the Guam quarters were first released to the Federal Reserve Bank and to the public. [click to continue…]

Uncirculated Guam QuarterIt is safe to say that the low production numbers for Puerto Rico quarters were a source of conversation for those in the industry a couple of months back.

For those who were surprised at those historically low levels, they will be shocked to hear of the drop in production for the Guam quarter.

And needless to say, the latest US Mint Guam sales figures show demand for the quarters during their first week of sales in bags and rolls is stronger than that experienced by the Puerto Rico quarters...

Uncirculated Guam QuarterHAGATNA, Guam - United States Mint Director Ed Moy today joined Guam Governor Felix Camacho and first lady Joann Camacho to celebrate the release of the Guam commemorative quarter-dollar coin in a ceremony at Skinner Plaza.

The Guam commemorative quarter-released to the Federal Reserve Bank on May 26-is the third coin in the United States Mint's 2009 District of Columbia and U.S. Territories Quarters Program.

The coin's reverse (tails side), by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Jim Licaretz, depicts the outline of the island, a flying proa (a seagoing craft built by the Chamorro people), a latte stone (an architectural element used as the base of homes) and the inscriptions GUAM and Guahan I Tanó ManChamorro (Guam - Land of the Chamorro).  The United States Mint will produce approximately 90 million Guam quarters. Uncirculated Guam QuarterThe public and media are invited to join United States Mint Director Ed Moy at the launch of the commemorative quarter-dollar coin honoring Guam at Skinner Plaza in Hagåtña, Guam, on Thursday, June 4, at 9 a.m. (GMT + 10 hours).

Guam Governor Felix Camacho, First Lady Joann Camacho, and invited guests will join in the ceremony that includes local entertainment and a coin exchange.

Uncirculated Guam QuarterWASHINGTON - Collectors may begin placing their orders for bags and rolls of Guam commemorative quarter-dollar coins on May 26, at noon Eastern Time.

The bags and rolls contain general circulating quality coins struck on the production floors at the United States Mint facilities at Denver and Philadelphia.

The bags of Guam quarters are packaged in 100-coin bags ($32.95) and 1,000-coin bags ($309.95).  Each bag has a tag identifying the mint of origin and "GU."

The two-roll sets ($32.95) include one roll each of 40 coins bearing the "D" and "P" mint marks.  The distinctive packaging displays the mint of origin, "GU" and the dollar value of the contents. [click to continue…]

Public voting ended Saturday for Guam’s commemorative quarter set for release in 2009. Just as Guam residents were asked to help create the quarter designs, they were asked once again by Governor Felix P. Camacho to  vote for their favorite.

Two quarter-dollar artist renderings prepared by the United States Mint and based on Guam narratives battled each other since May 20, 2008. Nearly 12,000 votes were cast online. The winning design, GU-01, won by a margin of nearly 700 votes.

Artist renderings of Guam commemorative quarter designs have been prepared by the United States Mint and sent back for review. And just as Guam residents were asked to help create the designs, they were asked once again by Governor Felix P. Camacho to cast their vote for a favorite.
