WASHINGTON - The United States Mint will begin accepting orders for the Abigail Fillmore First Spouse Gold Coin and Abigail Fillmore First Spouse Bronze Medal on March 18, 2010, at noon Eastern Time (ET).

The one-half ounce 24-karat gold coin, struck at the United States Mint at West Point, will be available in proof and uncirculated conditions.  Pricing for the coins will be based on the United States Mint's pricing structure for precious metals products.

For current pricing information, visit http://usmint.gov/pressroom/index.cfm?flash=yes&action=goldplat.  The bronze medals, which bear a likeness of the gold coin, will also be available for $5.50 each.

The coin's obverse (heads side) features a portrait of Abigail Fillmore by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Phebe Hemphill.  Inscriptions on the obverse are ABIGAIL FILLMORE, IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, 2010, 13th and 1850-1853, the period during which she was the spouse of the President.  [click to continue…]

Philadelphia No Motto Half Eagles

The Philadelphia mint began producing the familiar Liberty Head half eagle design in 1839. After a quick modification in 1840, this issue continued without change until 1866 when the motto IN GOD WE TRUST was added to the reverse.

US Mint Coin Sales ReportCoin demand declined almost across the entire United States Mint product lines, according to the latest weekly sales figures.

The week-over-week gainers can be counted on three fingers:

  • Proof Anna Harrison First Spouse Gold Coins rose 56 over the previous 33
  • The 2009 US Mint Set climbed 7,385 versus 3,616
  • John Tyler Presidential $1 Coin Covers increased 29 from 23

Sales of 2010 American Disabled Veterans Silver Coins are settling in -- which is normal -- following their brisk opening numbers. Collectors picked up another 24,784 of the proofs and 8,692 of the uncirculated silver dollars, bringing their combined total to 131,834 since their official release on February 25, 2010. US Mint Coin Sales ReportAnother new year dated product debuts in the latest United States Mint weekly sales report. The 2010 Disabled Veterans Silver Coins shined with three-day sales hitting nearly 100,000.

Broken out, 66,209 of the proof options were sold along with 32,149 of the uncirculated. In total, collectors grabbed 98,358 and made their sales debut one of the better ones.

As a comparison, "last year's highly popular and sold out Abraham Lincoln Silver Dollar debuted with three-day sales of 116,558 for the proof and 61,164 for the uncirculated, totaling to 177,722," writes CoinNews. "The final commemorative of last year, the Louis Braille Silver dollar, came in with initial sales of 28,880 for the proof and 11,964 for the uncirculated, totaling 40,844."

The American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollars are the first of two commemoratives to be released in 2010, with the 2010 Boy Scout Silver Coins to follow on March 23, 2010.

While the proof and uncirculated silver dollars came in number one and number two as leaders in collector coin sales, the 2010 Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set was right behind. Another 25,512 were sold, bringing the total to 326,464 in less than one month of availability. [click to continue…]

2010 American Eagle Gold Bullion CoinThe latest United States Mint bullion coin sales figures have been released and the stats show authorized buyers purchased 84,000 American Eagle Gold coins during February 2010, which was 1,000 less than the prior month.

Atypical from other years is that the tally includes both 2009 and 2010-dated coins. A high-relief, wire rim Roman numeral date 1907 Saint-Gaudens double eagle in Professional Coin Grading Service MS-63 condition brought $24,150 in Scotsman Coins’ Feb. 12 auction in St. Louis.

US Mint Sales: Presidential Dollar Proof Sets Lead, Fillmore $1s Arrive

The latest United States Mint weekly sales report has another 2010 addition, Millard Fillmore Presidential $1 coin rolls which were launched on Thursday, February 18, 2010.
