The 2009 Abraham Lincoln Commemorative Silver Dollars were released by the U.S. Mint on the bicentennial of the birth of the 16th President of the United States, February 12, 2009.

They were hot. The Mint’s entire mintage of 450,000 single coins sold out in six weeks. Broken out between the two options issued, 325,000 proof and 125,000 uncirculated coins were scooped up by collectors.

50,000 proof dollars were kept in reserve for the Lincoln Coin and Chronicles Set, which was attractively packaged to also include proofs of the four redesigned 2009 Lincoln cents with their special 95% copper compositions. 2010 Boy Scouts Uncirculated Silver DollarThe uncirculated 2010 Boy Scouts of American Centennial Silver Dollar sold out on Monday, with anyone placing new orders asked to join a waiting list in the hopes of an older order getting canceled and theirs then stamped with an approval.

That option has past. The United States Mint on Thursday afternoon removed the uncirculated dollar from its online store, moving it officially to its "No Longer Available" listings.

Collectors will likely have to wait until early next week to learn how many were sold. The U.S. Mint runs the weekly numbers and then sends out updated sales data on Tuesdays or Wednesdays ...

The 2010 Boy Scouts of America Centennial Uncirculated Silver Dollar sold out today, April 26, 2010, leaving only the proof option open for unrestricted ordering. The most recent U.S. Mint sales figures showed that the coins were nearing a sell out, with 312,653 of the 350,000 combined authorized mintage purchased as of Sunday, April 18, 2010. That was 89.3 percent of the maximum after having been available for less than a month (March 23, 2010 was the launch date for the the BSA silver dollars.)

U.S. Commemorative Coins2010 has already seen the release of its two commemorative coin issues by the United States Mint; the 2010 American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollar on Feb. 25, 2010, and the 2010 Boy Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollar on March 23, 2010.

No additional commemorative silver dollars will be launched this year, but several upcoming issues between 2011-2014 are already known.
