Vicksburg National Military Park Quarter Design WASHINGTON - The United States Mint is seeking applicants for appointment to the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC). The term of one CCAC member will expire in March 2010. The new member would represent the interests of the general public.

The application deadline is March 31, 2010. The United States Mint will review all applications and will forward recommendations to the Secretary of the Treasury for appointment consideration.

The CCAC was created to advise the Secretary of the Treasury on the selection of themes and design proposals for circulating coinage, commemorative coins, bullion coinage, Congressional Gold Medals and other medals. [click to continue…]

The Citizen's Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) met this morning (January 26, 2010) in Washington, D.C. for the express purpose of reviewing design candidates for the 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters to be issued next year.

The series, which launches this year with five new quarters, pays tribute to one site of national interest (usually a national park or forest) from each state, Washington, D.C. and the five U.S. territories.  It is set to run until the year 2021, when the last of the 56 new quarters will be issued.

Constantino Brumidi, Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) Gold Medals Designs Slated for Review

The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) will hold a public meeting at 9 a.m. (ET) on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at United States Mint Headquarters, 801 9th St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20220. The purpose of the meeting is to conduct business related to the CCAC's responsibility to advise the Secretary of the Treasury on themes and designs pertaining to United States coinage.

Agenda (subject to change):

  • Review obverse and reverse candidate designs for the Constantino Brumidi Congressional Gold Medal.
  • Review obverse and reverse candidate designs for the Woman Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) Congressional Gold Medal.

First Spouse medals and gold coins honoring Abigail Fillmore, Jane Pierce, James Buchanan’s Liberty and Mary Todd Lincoln were recently reviewed by the Commission of Fine Arts and the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee.

Both groups preferred obverse design No. 1 for Pierce and reverse No. 5 for Fillmore. The CFA liked the No. 1 design for Pierce because of its suitability for a coin, said CFA Secretary Tom Luebke ...
