The Boy Scouts of America Centennial Commemorative Coin Act (Public Law 110-363) authorizes the United States Mint to mint and issue silver one-dollar coins in commemoration of the centennial of the Boy Scouts of America.
The mintage limit for the 2010 Boy Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollar is set at 350,000 coins across both product options, the proof and uncirculated versions of the coin, struck in 90 percent silver. Household orders will be limited to 100 units per option. [click to continue…]

Prices for the two 2010 commemorative coins have been set, the United States Mint announced via a published notification in the Federal Register. The Boy Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollars and the American Veterans Disabled for Life Commemorative Coins will be struck in collector proof and uncirculated condition.

Secretary of the Treasury Timothy F. Geithner approved the coin's designs on September 16, 2009. The obverse (heads side) design, by United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program Master Designer Donna Weaver, depicts a Cub Scout in the foreground with a Boy Scout and female Venturer in the background saluting. The Venturer represents how the Boy Scouts of America organization has evolved over the past century to serve all the youth of America, including girls. President Bush on Wednesday signed into law the Boy Scouts of America Centennial Commemorative Coin Act (H.R. 5872). The act authorizes 350,000 silver dollar coins in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) in 2010.
H.R. 5872 enjoyed overwhelming support in both parties, passing in the House on April 22 and the Senate on September 27. Congressman Pete Sessions [R-TX], who is an Eagle Scout with four generations of Boy Scouts in his family, introduced the bill and was thankful it passed.

The Senate on Saturday joined the House in passing legislation that seeks to commemorate the centennial of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) with 350,000 silver dollar coins in 2010.
The bill, named the Boy Scouts of America Centennial Commemorative Coin Act or H.R. 5872, has overwhelming support and now moves to its next step — congressional packaging for the President, who is expected to sign it into law.
