First Spouse Gold Coins were among the better performing numismatic coin products based on the latest US Mint sales
The United States Mint reported a bit more buying action in its most recent set of weekly sales even with the recent silver product suspensions. 45 numismatic coin products outperformed their previous increases versus 41 in the last report, with gold coins and Presidential dollar related offerings shaking it up the most.
First Spouse Gold Coins were definitely hotter in the latest round. As a group, sales shot up 236 against the prior 88, and individually all six issues improved. American Eagles and the proof Buffalo also performed well. The one-half ounce American Gold Eagle proof coin reached its apparent maximum after 211 left Mint shelves (it is now sold out), and 280 American Gold Buffalo proof coins were snatched following a week where 134 and 181 coins sold, respectively.
As for the Presidential dollars, the most noticeable activity was with the $1 Coin Covers. Out of 12 available choices, 10 experienced higher sales. Rutherford B. Hayes was the best seller of the group, gaining 75 in this round compared to 59 previously.
Overall, the three best sellers of the numismatic coin products were the three newest releases featuring the 2012 Infantry Soldier Silver Dollars. In first place were the proof silver dollars which rose by 11,551, followed by the Defenders of Freedom Set with an addition of 7,184. Not far behind were the uncirculated silver dollars. Their sales gain was 5,819. In all, the US Mint sold 24,554 Infantry coins during their first full week of availability.

Hello,
I own and collect the ATB 5 oz Unc Silver coins. They have a burnished finish. What do the ATB 5 oz Bullion coins look like? I presume with the mintages that the ATB 5 oz Unc coins are the more collectable?
Thanks
The ATB 5 oz bullion coins have a more brilliant look to them, and lack the “P” mint mark. Generally speaking, uncirculated coins are more desirable to collectors, but some of the lower mintage ATB 5 oz bullion coins have proven to be popular with collectors as well. There was quite a drive at the time to get the first year issues which had mintages capped at 33,000.
