Sales of 2012-W Proof Silver Eagle coins surged again, easily outpacing the other top ten selling coin collecting products from the U.S. Mint put together.
Sales of 2012-W Proof Silver Eagle coins have taken off in recent weeks, helped by rising silver prices that bring extra attention to the 99.9% fine silver coin
Since the last U.S. Mint sales report, the individually sold proof Silver Eagle shot up 41,853, crossed the 700K milestone and landed at 701,291.
After the proof Silver Eagle, the second most popular coin collecting product was the 2012 Proof Set, which gained 8,309. It was a strong number for the week, above the 7,391 in last week’s sales report. So far collectors have taken in 534,688 of the sets since their debut on May 7.
In bullion news, the best movers were the American Silver Eagle, leaping by 922,000 in the last seven days to 24,501,000 for the year, and the one ounce American Gold Eagle that rose by 16,500 to reach 383,000 total. The half ounce and the quarter ounce Gold Eagles also moved up by 1,000 and 2,000 in coins sold, and the smallest one tenth ounce size jumped by 10,000.

The last column provides the latest United States Mint sales totals as of Monday, September 17.
