The latest US Mint coin sales figures are released and shouting out are the popular collector gold coins and US Mint proof and uncirculated sets.
The proof 2009 Buffalo Gold Coins jumped another 8,4897 to reach 27,955 since their launch on Oct. 29. In less than two weeks, the new coins passed the 2008 one-ounce proof Buffalo total of 25,896. Sales have slowed compared to the 19.5K sold in the first four days, but that is to be expected and typical of coin launch trends.
Demand for UHR Double Eagle Gold Coins also increased, and for the second consecutive week. Weekly sales came in at 1,453 for a new year-to-date total of 103,764. Last week's report showed a pick up of 1,045 and the week prior was at 562 -- the second worst weekly number since the coin was launched on Jan. 22, 2009. In related news, a recent CoinNews.net analysis of sales in the secondary market show UHR coin values are exceptionally high for graded MS70s.
The annual US Mint Proof Set, US Mint Silver Proof Set, and US Mint Uncirculated Mint Set were stronger, as in better than the prior week.With the holiday season fast approaching, these always popular annual sets should continue to show solid numbers in the coming weeks.
