New Hawaii Volcanoes quarters were among coin collectors’ top purchases, U.S. Mint sales data revealed.
Rolls and bags of Hawaii Volcanoes quarters were among the best selling coin products for the U.S. Mint last week.
All five coin products, in bags and rolls, received thousands of orders. Yet, the best seller for the U.S. Mint was the 2012-W American Silver Eagle Proof Coin.
22,848 of the proof Silver Eagles were ordered in one week, earning them the number one spot. That number was dramatically up from the 11,699 purchased previously. As it stands, 596,815 overall have sold.
Next up were debuting Hawaii Volcanoes quarters. The two-roll sets, with 40 from Denver and 40 from Philadelphia, were the favorite with collectors ordering 15,719. Other Hawaii Volcanoes quarters sales included 4,573 single 40-coin rolls and 3,772 of the 100-coin bags from San Francisco. Sales were 2,259 for bags from Philadelphia and 2,236 for bags from Denver.
Demand for Hawaii Volcanoes quarters exceeded initial demand for the previous issue, honoring Acadia National Park. When the Acadia quarters debuted, collectors took in 15,530 two-roll sets, 3,429 single rolls and 2,761 of the 100-coin bags from San Francisco. 2,177 and 2,163 of the 100-coin bags from Philadelphia and Denver respectively also sold during Acadia quarter’s opening week.

The first three columns of the table provide weekly United States Mint sales increases between the listed time periods, offering a sense of recent trends. The last column provides the latest United States Mint sales totals as of Monday, September 3. Bullion coin tables are found toward the bottom, with the most recent sales as of Wednesday, September 5, except for the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins, which have sales as of August 30.
