This newest coin is the third of the 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters® and the eighteenth issued since the program kicked off in 2010. Found on its reverse is a design by Ronald D. Sanders that is emblematic of Great Basin National Park in Nevada.

Specifically, shown is a Bristlecone Pine tree and the rocky glacial moraines where the trees grow. These trees are a main scene appearing throughout the park. Surrounding the image are the inscriptions GREAT BASIN, NEVADA, 2013 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.

Coin collecting products now available from the US Mint include rolls and bags of Great Basin quarter with ‘P’, ‘D’ or ‘S’ mint marks. The mint marks indicate the US Mint plant responsible for striking the coins, representing facilities located in Philadelphia, Denver or San Francisco.

A list of the new Great Basin coin products and their prices follow.

COLLECTING PRODUCT MINT MARK PRICE
Two-Roll Set (40 coins per roll) "P" and "D" $32.95
100-Coin Bag "P," "D" or "S" $34.95
Single Roll (40 coins) "S" $18.95
Three-Roll Set "P," "D" and "S" $46.95

Like past coin collecting products featuring America the Beautiful Quarters in rolls and bags, every Great Basin quarter is in circulating-quality — the same quality as coins found in pocket change. Yet, because they originate directly from the US Mint, they are more likely to be in better condition than those that will eventually find their way into circulation. Additionally, San Francisco Mint produced Great Basin quarters are not sent into circulation. They are only made for coin collectors. That means anyone wanting them will need to order from the US Mint or wait until they are available from coin dealers.

To place orders for Great Basin quarters in rolls and bags, visit the United States Mint website at www.usmint.gov/catalog, or call 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).

The four other 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters for the year commemorate and depict:

  • White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire – the quarter was released on January 28, 2013
  • Great Basin National Park of Nevada – the quarter was released on April 1, 2013
  • Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine of Maryland – the quarter is expected out in August
  • Mount Rushmore National Memorial of South Dakota – the quarter is expected out in November.
