Line-art designs for 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters and companion five ounce silver coins were published earlier this week by the United States Mint.
There are five designs in total, one for each national site up for recognition next year. These sites are White Mountain National Forest of New Hampshire, Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial of Ohio, Great Basin National Park of Nevada, Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine of Maryland, and Mount Rushmore National Memorial of South Dakota.
Developed for the 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters, they will also be featured on the 2013 bullion and 2013-P collector versions of the America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Coins.
Below are the line-art designs and their descriptions for each site honored during the year. Release dates for when the 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters are scheduled to enter circulation through the Federal Reserve Bank System is also listed, as are the planned U.S. Mint release dates for the collector 2013 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins.
White Mountain National Forest
Shown on the reverse of the White Mountain coin is Mt. Chocorua, the easternmost peak of the Sandwich Range. The mountain is framed by birch trees. Inscriptions are WHITE MOUNTAIN, NEW HAMPSHIRE, 2013, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.

Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial
Featured on the reverse of the Perry’s Victory coin is the statue of Master Commandant Oliver Hazard Perry and the Peace Memorial. Inscriptions are PERRY’S VICTORY, OHIO, 2013, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
This reverse design was created and executed by U.S. Mint Sculptor-Engraver Don Everhart.

Great Basin National Park
Depicted on the reverse of the Great Basin coin is a Bristlecone Pine tree growing in rocky glacial moraines. Inscriptions are GREAT BASIN, NEVADA, 2013, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
The reverse design is by U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program Associate Designer Ronald D. Sanders. It was executed by U.S. Mint Sculptor-Engraver Renata Gordon.

Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine
Shown on the reverse of the Fort McHenry coin are fireworks above the fort as would be seen on Defenders Day. Inscriptions are FORT McHENRY, MARYLAND, 2013, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
U.S. Mint Sculptor-Engraver Joseph Menna created the reverse design and he executed it.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial
Depicted on the Mount Rushmore coin are two men conducting the finishing work on Thomas Jefferson’s face. Inscriptions are MOUNT RUSHMORE, SOUTH DAKOTA, 2013, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
Like the Ft. McHenry design, this reverse was both designed and executed by U.S. Mint Sculptor-Engraver Joseph Menna.

Each obverse continues to show George Washington, the first President of the United States. John Flanagan is credited for the image. Inscriptions are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and QUARTER DOLLAR.
