Debut Sales of 2012-P Acadia Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin

The first week of sales is in the history books for the 2012-P Acadia National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin.

Released by the United States Mint for $204.95 on Monday, August 13, coin collectors purchased 6,552 by the following Monday, August 20. In dollars, the sales total came to $1,342,832.40.

The sales start is a bit stronger than the previous two issues in the series of America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Coins, which also have a 2012 date. The immediately previous Chaco Culture National Historical Park Silver Uncirculated Coin reached 6,365 during its debut sales week and the El Yunque National Forest Silver Uncirculated Coin opened at 6,514.

The Acadia uncirculated coin is actually the thirteenth released since the U.S. Mint first announced the program and the companion quarter series began in 2010. The uncirculated coins share the same designs as the quarters.

Two more silver coins are coming this year that will bear a date of 2012. Those include the:

  • 2012-P Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin, and the
  • 2012-P Denali National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin

The series of America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Coins is expected to last until 2021, or as long as the America the Beautiful Quarters program.
