The United States Mint announced yesterday that the ceremonial launch of the Chaco Culture Quarter and coin exchange will take place on Thursday, April 26 at 10:30 AM Mountain Time (MT) at the Chaco Culture National Historical Park Visitor Center inside the park.
The park is located two hours, by car, south of Farmington, New Mexico or three and a half hours northwest of Albuquerque. The exact address of the visitor center is 1808 RD 7950, Nageezi, New Mexico 87037.
Chaco Culture Quarter is the 12th issue in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program and the second to launch this year. It entered public circulation on April 2, 2012 which was the same day that the U.S. Mint began selling bags and rolls of them.
Immediately following the launch ceremony is a coin exchange, also at the visitor center. Adults can trade cash for rolls of the new quarters at face value, while children who are 18 years and under are expected to receive a free quarter for attending the event.
It should be noted that the U.S. Mint is also hosting a coin forum tonight, Wednesday, at 6:30 PM MT in Farmington. It will be held at the Gateway Park Museum and Visitor Center, at 3041 East Main Street, and it is free to the public.

Officials from the United States Mint and the National Park Service will be joined by nearly two hundred schoolchildren from the region, to mark the release of the Chaco Culture National Historical Park quarter on April 26, during National Park Week. The event will take place at Chaco Culture National Historical Park’s new Visitor Center, which will also be dedicated at the 10:30 a.m. ceremony. Immediately following the ceremony, the public will have the opportunity to exchange their cash for $10 rolls of the new Chaco Culture National Historical Park quarter at face value.

The evening before the launch ceremony – Wednesday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. – the United States Mint will host a coin forum on at the Gateway Park Museum and Visitor Center, at 3041 East Main Street in Farmington, NM. The coin forum will provide an opportunity for the public to express their views about future coinage, and to learn about upcoming United States Mint coin programs and initiatives.
The Chaco Culture National Historical Park quarter is the 12th coin in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program, a 12-year initiative to honor 56 national parks and other national sites authorized by Public Law Public Law 110-456. Each year, the public will see five new national sites depicted on the reverse (tails side) of the America the Beautiful Quarters. The United States Mint is issuing these quarters in the order in which the honored site was first established as a national site.
