High-end rarities struggled a bit at Stack's 74th anniversary auction held in Baltimore, Nov. 9 to 11.

One of the highlights, an 1861 Confederate cent encapsulated in an ANACS holder as Genuine and graded by Stack's as choice Proof, sold for $112,700 (inclusive of Stack's 15 percent buyer's fee).

Larry Stack no longer with firm

Gold double eagles will be among the highlights from the St. Andre Collection that will be put on the auction block by Stack’s March 23 in Baltimore.

Stack’s Auctions will present the Bob Entlich Collection of Standing Liberty quarters at its Baltimore auction March 23-25. Leading the auction is a superb gem 1927-S Standing Liberty quarter full head certified MS-66 by Professional Coin Grading Services.

It is tied with one other for highest graded honors. From the Bob Entlich Collection, it is the key condition rarity of the Standing Liberty quarter series, on par with the 1918/7-S quarter, according to Stack’s catalogers.

Stack’s enables bidding from home

Auction firm Stack’s announced Jan. 9 the launch of Stack’s at Home™ Online Auction, a program that allows users to participate in real time online bidding from home.

A small application installed on a home computer provides live video and audio of the auctioneer over the Internet in real time.

On November 7, Stamford, Connecticut played host to the second annual CoinFest show, the largest regional coin show in the New York metropolitan area. Stack’s, the official auctioneer of the event, proudly showcased The Haverford Collection. This sale featured two exciting collections of U.S. paper money, along with a nice selection of U.S. coins to complete this well-rounded offering.

1801 $10 gold piece heads Stack’s sale – Numismatic News

An 1801 Bass Dannreuther-2, T-25, Capped Bust $10 gold piece graded MS-65 by Numismatic Guaranty Corp. attracted a bid of $201,250 to lead the prices realized list for Stack’s 73rd anniversary sale Oct. 22. Overall, the sale realized $5,074,315.20. Prices realized include a 15 percent buyer’s fee for each lot.
