Acadia Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coin Sales Debut

As expected, the 2012-W American Silver Eagle proof coin topped 500K in the most recent U.S. Mint coin collecting sales report, but it was not the only product in the weekly spotlight.

The sales debut of the Acadia National Park Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coin jumped onto the charts below and recharged sales of the prior five releases.

2012 American Silver Eagle Proof Coin Sales

Individually sold 2012-W Silver Eagle proof coins were certainly collectors’ top priority after the U.S. Mint resumed their sales on July 25 from a twelve day suspension for re-pricing. 34,061 were scooped up in less than six days, which took their new total beyond 500K and all the way up to 526,806.

Weekly coin collecting sales increases for the second and third best numismatic sellers were nowhere close to the Eagles. Orders reached 12,391 for the 2012 Proof Set and 5,510 for the 2012 Mint Set.

2012 Acadia Silver Bullion Coin Sales Debut

Authorized Purchasers seized their first opportunity to buy the bullion Acadia silver coin by scooping up 9,900 of them. That amount exceeded the entire total purchased of the prior issue, the Chaco Culture silver bullion coin, which hit 7,400 after 1,500 more were purchased on Monday. Other America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin sales to jump with the availability of the Acadia silver bullion coin were El Yunque’s with 1,600, Chickasaw and Vicksburg’s by 300 each, and Olympic’s version with 200.

Exactly what made the investor-grade Acadia bullion coin more popular than the previous release is not known. It does feature the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse in Maine, and on a three-inch surface the beauty is obvious. It also precedes the launch of the collector version, which will open on August 13. On the other hand, it is the third issue of 2012 and the 13th overall in the program, plus there will be 43 more national sites honored in the coming years.
