On Tuesday, February 19, 2013, the United States Mint releases a series of coin collecting products featuring 2013 William McKinley Presidential dollars.

These are the first of the 2013 Presidential $1 Coins and the 25th overall since the U.S. Mint program began in 2007. The 25th release is no coincidence. William McKinley was the 25th President of the United States and Presidential dollars are issued in the order presidents served.

$1 Coin Option for Collectors

Similar to last year’s releases in the Presidential $1 Coin Program, the US Mint is offering the following options filled with 2013 William McKinley Presidential dollars:

  • 25-coin rolls for $32.95,
  • 100-coin bags for $111.95,
  • 250-coin boxes for $275.95 and
  • 500-coin boxes for $550.95

Coins in the rolls, bags and boxes are in circulating quality. They are produced at the Philadelphia Mint and Denver Mint and have the denoting "P" or "D" mint marks. Collectors have the choice of buying rolls, bags or boxes from either US Mint facility, and all of the coins will come direct from the US Mint.

Presidential dollars are minted from 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel. Every $1 has a diameter of 26.5 mm and a weight of 8.1 grams.

William McKinley Presidential $1 Coin Design

The obverse design on McKinley Presidential dollars has an image of William McKinley with the inscriptions WILLIAM MCKINLEY, IN GOD WE TRUST, 25th PRESIDENT and 1897 – 1901. Phebe Hemphill created and executed it.

2013 William McKinley Presidential $1 Coin - Proof, Obverse Side

This is the reverse side of a proof 2013 William McKinley Presidential $1 Coin. Dollars in the bags, rolls and boxes are in circulating quality, but feature the exact same design

Reverses of all Presidential $1 Coins feature Don Everhart’s rendition of the Statue of Liberty. Inscriptions are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and "$1."

Edge inscriptions on the dollars have the year of minting, the mint mark and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Their positioning does vary on circulating quality coins.

Shipping and handling on domestic orders is $4.95. There is an extra charge of $7.95 per 500-coin box due to their heavier weight.

This coin collecting product has no ordering limits. Mintages will depend on collector demand.

Forthcoming 2013 Presidential Dollars

Upcoming 2013 Presidential $1 Coins honor Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft and Woodrow Wilson. Respective releases for the various collector products are in the months of April, July and October.
