After a few week lull between new coin collecting product releases, collectors took the opportunity to pick up the 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set. Debut sales hit 49,051 from January 8 to January 14, 2013.
The new 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set was the most purchased coin collecting product
While the new silver proof set topped the US Mint sales report, it did not reach the opening level of previous years’ sets for the quarter dollar program that began in 2010. Compared to 2012 alone, sales were down by more than 12,000 over a similar time frame. When last year’s silver quarter issue started, initial ordering reached 61,181 over seven days. Other weekly bestsellers were far from stellar. The 2012 US Mint Uncirculated Coin Set took second with an increase of 3,307 to arrive at 387,815 in total number of units sold since May 21, 2012. In third place was the 2012-S Acadia Quarter Rolls, adding 2,080 to their total, which is now at 16,585. The San Francisco minted rolls were made available on August 9, 2012 and were just recently taken off sale.
All available sales on U.S. Mint coin collecting products are below. The first three columns of the table provide weekly United States Mint sales increases between the listed time periods, offering a sense of recent trends. The last column provides the latest United States Mint sales totals as of Monday, January 14, 2013. Bullion coin tables are found toward the bottom, with the most recent sales as of Wednesday, January 16.
