This year’s collectible American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coin has a release date of Thursday, August 2, 2012 and a price of $45.95, the United States Mint officially confirmed in a news statement published yesterday.
2012 American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coin
Struck at the West Point Mint and bearing a "W" mint mark, the uncirculated coin is composed of one ounce of silver that is 99.9% pure. It marks the fifth and final American Silver Eagle for issue this year, but it is the first in collector uncirculated quality.

- 2012 American Eagle Silver Bullion Coin — issued January 2
- 2012-W American Eagle Silver Proof Coin — released on April 12
- 2012-S American Eagle Silver Proof Coin — issued on June 7 within the Two-Coin Proof Set
- 2012-S American Eagle Silver Reverse Proof Coin — issued on June 7 within the Two-Coin Proof Set
Each of the first two coin types is annually released. The latter two coins from San Francisco and with a "S" mint mark are special 2012 issues.
This latest uncirculated coin is also an annual issue, but it is the newest to the group. The United States Mint introduced the bullion and proof versions in 1986. The first annual American Eagle Silver uncirculated coin debuted in 2006. Its run was cut short in years 2009 and 2010 as it was not offered. The uncirculated coin returned last year, and it remains available from the United States Mint for $45.95. The latest sales stats as of July 23 showed 297,299 had been purchased since its release on September 15.

The uncirculated coin will also be included within the 2012 Annual Uncirculated $1 Coin Set that goes on sale September 6, 2012. This set includes the four 2012 Presidential $1 coins and the 2012 Native American $1 coin. A price for this set has not been published.
One other United States Mint product will include an American Eagle Silver, the Making American History Coin & Currency Set. This set is scheduled for release on August 7. It will include a unique $5 bill and a proof from San Francisco, one of the two coins within the Two-Coin Proof Set. The price for the Making American History Coin & Currency Set will be $72.95.
