Both 2011 and 2012 American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coins are being sold by the U.S. Mint. Each is $45.95.

As the bureau has tended to do more frequently with prior-year products, it also continues to sell last year’s uncirculated coin. Both are priced at $45.95.

The U.S. Mint has not indicated the length of time the 2012-W American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coin will remain available. Having been released last September with current sales of 297,629, the older issue may not have a hard cut of date but instead sales could continue sold until the inventory is depleted.

Uncirculated American Silver Eagle most resemble their bullion counterpart which are struck for investors. As a collectible product, the uncirculated coins can readily be identified by the location of a "W" mint mark on the reverse. The uncirculated Eagles are encapsulated in plastic, placed in a protective outer box and are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity that also provides coin specifications.

All American Silver Eagle coins have a 99.9% pure silver composition, a weight of one ounce, a diameter of 1.598 inches and a thickness of 0.113 inches. The series debuted in 1986 with the bullion and proof versions. The uncirculated coins did not join the series until 2006.
