New to this week's US Mint sales report are debuting numbers for the just released 2010 Presidential $1 Coin Uncirculated Set, commemorative figures that show strong demand for Boy Scouts coins, and an update for 2010 Lincoln Cent two-roll sets that were issued less than two weeks ago.
The United States Mint placed 2010 Presidential $1 Coin Uncirculated Sets on sale Tuesday, April 13. By Sunday, April 18, collectors purchased 23,962.
The opening numbers for the 2010 sets are better than those from 2009 which came in at 12,780. However, the 2009 sets were not launched on a Tuesday but instead on a Thursday. Their opening sales, therefore, should naturally be lower. Still, the 2010 set includes an uncirculated Lincoln $1, which should make them more popular with collectors in the long run.
2010 Boy Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollars held up well as weekly sales, instead of halving as they have been, came in at 22,261. That was only 1,614 lower than the prior week. Their latest tally is 312,653, leaving just 46,136 left before the maximum 350,000 is reached. The $25 price increase last week for First Spouse Gold Coins was not helpful to the series. As a group, sales advanced 588 versus the previous 1,238.
Finally, sales of the 2010 Lincoln Cent Two Roll Sets increased 31,953 to 77,436. Their debuting sales figures from last week's report were 45,483. The sets are selling substantially slower than the four 2009 pennies.
